Family Health Teams (FHTs) use a patient centered approach to primary health care that brings together doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers and other health care professionals to coordinate the highest possible quality of care for patients – when they need it and as close to home as possible. FHTS are a key component of Ontario’s health care plan to reduce wait times, improve access to doctors and nurses, and keep Ontarians healthy.
Clinical Assistant – Part Time Permanent Position
This position involves working 3.5 to 5 days per week as a Clinical Assistant. The position is working with a new physician joining our team on February 1, 2018 who will be establishing their family medicine practice. We are seeking a candidate that would be able to transition to full-time hours in August 2018.
Responsibilities include assisting the physician in all areas including patient check-in, scheduling appointments, answering the phone, responding to patient inquiries, developing workflows for tasks, triaging and managing the flow of information to the team, assisting with patient flow, and preparing exam rooms and stocking medical supplies. You will be working as a team with the physician, nursing, and Family Health Team staff to provide coordinated quality patient care. The ideal candidate must be motivated, able to work independently, and keen to take initiative.
Experience within a primary health care settings as well as flexibility to respond to a fluctuating workload and changing environment are important qualities. Proficiency in the use of electronic health records (specifically Telus Practice Solutions) is an asset.
